Today we’re talking about the 3 Reasons We Don’t Track Our Food in the Freese Method and You Don’t Need to Either.

That’s right. In the Freese Method 12-Week Metabolic Repair Weight Loss Program, we don’t track our food in apps, we don’t do food diaries, we don’t track our calories or protein grams, and try to hit our macro goals for the day.   And yet! To everyone’s amazement, we get stellar amazing results every day.

This was a huge leap of faith for me in the beginning because for so long I had been taught that accountability was paramount and food diaries were the only way to keep my clients accountable and that weight loss was just math, so keeping track of your food kept the math in check and kept your clients from lying.

One day, after reviewing my 64,987th food diary, I realized that this way of dealing with food was not good. It was not the kind of relationship with food I wanted to have or promote to my clients. 

Here’s the truth I learned:

We do food diaries to feel like we are in control.  To feel like we have power over our eating so that we can force ourselves to eat well.  Some of us use it to punish ourselves.  And all this does is create distrust in ourselves and our ability to eat well without Big Brother watching.

The reason Big Brother has to watch and make sure you follow the food rules is that the low-fat low-calorie rules are so horrible for your body, your body and your brain are rebelling against them every second of every day.

Your body wants to eat healthy dietary fat.  Your body wants enough calories in the day to keep you energized. 

When you force bad and wrong eating rules on a perfectly good body, your perfectly good and rational brain will try to correct it.

Do you see what I’m saying?

The low-calorie, low-fat rules are so bad that your brain is naturally going to rebel against it.  So instead of looking at the low-calorie, low-fat food rules as the problem, we make you the problem and rule over you like teachers with rulers, ready to snap your hands when your brain begs for survival.

We turn this whole concept on its head (or right side up depending on how you look at it).

I teach you how to eat in line with your brain and your body so you can create a healthy metabolic hormonal rhythm that burns body fat if you eat 1400 calories, 1800 calories, or 2200 calories.
