How to Get More Energy Without Caffeine or Exercise!

Today we get to talk about how to beat fatigue, how to avoid that 4pm need for a nap and how to finally beat that sluggish feeling.

As a society we have become more and more dependent on energy-boosters and things that can pump us up.  Why is that?  Why can’t we just have energy that lasts all day?

Well, the problem starts with what we eat and how that fuels - or doesn’t fuel our cells.

When we eat foods like bagels, fat-free yogurt and pancakes for breakfast our body turns those refined carbohydrates into sugar.  This gives you a burst of energy as the sugar surges into your bloodstream and is pushed into your cells by the hormone insulin.

Well, that process doesn’t take long, 90% of all your sugar should be absorbed in 90 minutes, so at around the 2 hour mark, your body is out of fuel and needs more sugar.  This is the time we feel sluggish, this is when we feel the urge to grab a snack to give us our energy back.  This is the time that we need the coffee.

The fact that you have no energy is all due to the type of fuel your giving your cells.

When you give it sugar it’s like lighting a match to boil a pot of water.

You strike it, it blows hot at first, then burns, then boom it’s out.  So you light another match, over and over.

Eating sugar is lighting the match.

Drinking coffee is lighting the match.

If you want sustained, even, high energy levels you need to stop burning matches and put that pot of water on a gas stove that can burn continually, evenly, and predictably.

So if sugar is the match, what is the gas stove?  The gas stove is dietary fat.

When we eat dietary fat like bacon, avocado, butter, olives, cheese, whole fat yogurt, coconut milk, and chia seeds, we are turning on our gas stove to boil that water of energy.

Fat is the number one preferred source of energy for our whole body. Your body loves to create long-lasting and clean energy from fat found in food or your stored body fat.

When you eat natural fat like eggs and sugar-free bacon for breakfast, you light your gas stove up and can run on that energy for hours!

Poor fat has been demonized so bad that we’ve all forgotten why we all wanted to eat it in the first place.

But it’s the best at providing us with clean, long-lasting energy!

When you're out of bacon and egg fat to burn, your body can turn to what?

Body fat!  Your body can burn body fat to keep that gas stove on and that water boiling. There's no interruption.  Your body seamlessly moves from burning fat from our food to burning our body fat.  This transition is key!

But here's where most of us find ourselves in a metabolic mess. We don't burn fat as we should.

We can't burn the fat from our bodies between meals for energy.

When your body can't burn fat for energy, your cells are forced to turn to the other, less awesome fuel: sugar.

You need a healthy metabolism in order to burn body fat for energy.

A damaged metabolism relies on sugar, on matches.

A healthy metabolism is gas stove of consistent, pure energy.

This is what we do over 12-weeks in the Freese Method Metabolic Repair Plan. We fix your broken metabolism so that you can not only make energy from the fat you eat but also make energy from your own body fat.

We burn crazy amounts of body fat, we’re talking 4,5,6 inches of body fat just from our tummies in 12-weeks because we’ve healed our metabolisms to a place where they can burn the fat they so desperately prefer.

It’s a win/win for us as women.  We burn through our unwanted body fat on our stomachs, our hips, our thighs AND we get ridiculous amounts of natural energy.

Here’s the thing you can do today, even with the broken metabolism that you have to help you stop burning matches over and over and to start using your internal gas stove:  eat more natural fat at your meals.

I’ll help you a bit here: no, eating fat won’t cause a heart attack, it’s much more complicated than that.  No, eating fat is not going to cause you to gain weight, that was debunked in like the 1970’s.

I know hearing the advice to eat fat from a Registered Dietitian seems a little crazy, but all I ask is that you give it a try and see how you feel after eating more natural fat like avocados, whole fat dairy, eggs, olive oil, olives, natural meat fat, and nuts for a few weeks.

This week when you grocery shop I want you to buy full-fat dairy, including whole milk!  Whole fat cheeses, whole fat unflavored yogurts, and a few avocados to add to your meals.
