The Secret Ninja Move of Women Who Eat Well

cognitive behavior therapy mindset thoughts Aug 03, 2022

Today we are going to talk about the Secret Ninja Move of Women Who Eat Well.

In the Freese Method 12-Week online group coaching program, we make big time transformations happen everyday.

We transform your metabolism from a damaged metabolism that barely burns sugar to a thriving metabolism that can burn body fat for long-lasting energy.

We transform your relationship with food from anxious and obsessive to calm and content.

We transform your identity from a Woman Who Is Always Trying to Lose Weight to a Woman Who Eats Well.

It’s a lot of transformation in 12-weeks.  As I’ve coached over 360 women through the Freese Method, not including the coaching I did before I transitioned online, I’ve uncovered a pivotal aspect of why The Freese Method women are so successful.  And it’s such a little thing, it may have gone unnoticed by most.  It’s a small Ninja move that we learn in the program that helps us with the unbelievable transformation that we need in our lives.

And I want to share this ninja move with you because my mission, of course, is to show you that you have what it takes to lose weight.  You can do it.  And this ninja move is something that you can do right now.

The ninja move is a mindset shift.

It’s a thought that we are going to think deliberately.

From cognitive behavior therapy, which we utilize in the program, we know that all the results we have in our lives come directly from the thoughts we think in our brains first.

First, we think thoughts, such as:

“I’m a good driver.”

“Dogs are the best!”

“Losing weight is hard.”

We have a lot of thoughts. In fact, in 2005, The National Science Foundation published that we have 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts per day. Of those thousands of thoughts, 80% were negative, and 95% were exactly the same repetitive thoughts as the day before.[1]

So really, we have a lot of repetitive thoughts.

Well, these repetitive thoughts create our feelings for the day. They create our emotions. Which is a big deal, because from these emotions, we take action.  Or not.

Most of go through life thinking that feelings just come over us out of the blue, but they don’t. You always have a thought first, however fleeting, however repetitive and automatic, but the thought happens first and then the feeling follows.

The ninja move of the most successful women, not only in weight loss, but in life in general, is this awareness of our thoughts and making sure we are choosing the right thought that serves us.  Is it helpful or hurtful?

Specifically, we need to bring more awareness to our thoughts about our weight and our eating.

When you start to think about trying to eat well or eat healthy, what are your first thoughts?

“Eating well is miserable.”

“Eating well is too expensive.”

“I hate to cook.”

“I don’t know what healthy is?”

Basically, anything along the line of “It’s hard and it’s not worth the effort, right?”

It’s ok that you think those thoughts, there is nothing wrong with you. But the problem is, is that they are not serving you.  When you are thinking on autopilot and think, “Eating well is too hard and not worth the effort,” you stay stuck with your same results. The results of being overweight and anxious about food.

To get a different result, the one where you are a Woman Who Eats Well and can control her weight easily, I want to teach you a ninja thought move, one that moves you toward your goal, instead of further into victimhood.

I want you think this thought instead, “How can I eat well even though…”

That’s it.

We are going to pull you out of “I can’t do it” and move you into “How can I do it?”

Your brain will find evidence of anything you set it out to find.

If you think, “I can’t lose weight because dieting on vacation ruins my vacation,” then your brain will diligently go to work finding all the past evidence of when you were on a vacation, trying to eat salad and not drink and how that was miserable.  Aha! See, you are right!

Now, try this, “How can I eat well even though I’m going on vacation?” See the subtle shift? Now, your brain is going to the same thing it always does. It’s going to diligently go to work finding solutions to your new, better question.

Well, you think, “I could focus on just maintaining my weight over vacation instead of trying to lose weight on vacation. That is one option, that would relieve some of the stress.  I could plan out my alcohol use before I go so I can meet my goal but not feel so deprived.  I can plan to stop eating after 8pm which won’t be hard to do.”  So on and so forth.

Shifting your thought from “I can’t do it” to “How could I do it even though _____” changes your brain.  It will lead to better ideas. It will lead to a more useful, positive emotion that will drive a more useful positive action that will get you better results.

It’s not about willpower. It’s not about self-love or confidence. It’s about thinking better thoughts that serve you instead of falling into autopilot to the 80% negative or 95% repetitive thoughts that haven’t gotten you anywhere.

You can do this now.

“How can I eat well even though I hate to cook?”

“How can I eat well even though I have a limited budget?”

“How can I eat well even though my husband only eats frozen pizzas?”

“How can I eat well even though I don’t get home until 7pm?”

I’m telling you your brain is amazing!  Put it to work for you!  Keep at this until you start to break free from just saying “I can’t.”  Don’t fall into that. You are fully capable of doing this.
