They can’t balance your estrogen and they can’t burn fat.

 

This is the big lie I want you to look for. If it tells you it will rebalance estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone, put the bottle down and walk away.

 

If you are post-menopausal and are not ovulating, supplements cannot provide you with bioavailable supplemental estrogen.  Not from yams, soy, nothing.  And increasing your estrogen will not result in weight loss.

 

Usually, these supplements are a crazy big mixture of a multi-vitamin plus unregulated and unproven herbs with maybe some probiotics thrown in for “weight management.”

Protein powder for women over 40 will build you up without an appreciable raise in metabolic rate and yes, yes, you will store that excess energy as fat, because protein powder has the same hormonal effect as sugar in your body.

 

So protein powder, no matter how vegan, how new, how sexy, or how hip, is a weight loss gimmick that you will not fall for.

Good lord have mercy. This is why people hate wellness.

Sexy statements like, “supports lipid metabolism” or promises to “transform your coffee into a metabolism-revving, bloat-easing elixir,” is all marketing with no backbone.

Again, you can’t boost your metabolic rate with supplements, that is not how it works.  Adding “stuff” to your diet, no matter how fancy,  usually only makes problems worse by overstimulating the wrong hormones at the wrong time.
